This Memorial Weekend, practice yoga and feel the thrill of climbing with unbelievable views in this unique yoga retreat at Robinson Bluff less than 90 minutes from St. Louis. This retreat is great for beginner, intermediate, or advanced athletes looking to push their skill level. Morning yoga sessions with Debby in the property’s new barn will help you enhance your mental focus and awareness, as well as stretch out all those climbing-specific muscles.

Vertical Voyages will be offering 1/2 day climbing clinics on Sunday. Clinic Descriptions on yoga-evangelist.com. These rock climbing clinics are led by AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructors. Clinics fill with 4 climbers. Select the appropriate ticket to be placed in that clinic. You might also elect no clinic.

Highlights

  • Daily yoga sessions in the barn/pavilion led by Debby Siegel, ERYT 500, yoga teacher at Climb So iLL Power Plant and Climb So iLL Steel Shop. BYO yoga mat if you have one. Otherwise, extra yoga mats and blocks are available.
    • 7-8 am SUN – Yoga for Climbing
    • 9-10:30 am MON – Yoga for Climbing (Vinyasa + Yin stretches)
  • Select one 1/2 day Climbing Clinic:
    • Intro to Climbing Outside – novice with all equipment included (shoes, harness, belay device, helmet, rope, chalk)
    • Gym to Crag – you bring your own equipment and have some climbing experience and be lead certified
    • Multi-pitch Skills – for those already lead climbing outdoors, looking to learn multi-pitch belaying etc

Yoga styles

  • Vinyasa  / Yin combo – Vinyasa meanse breath to movement. We will warm up with some breathwork, move with that breath through a sequence of yoga postures, then finish with a cool down and some longer held stretches in yin fashion.

If you want to arrive Friday night, you’ll need to pay for camping at the gate. This retreat begins at 4pm on Saturday, May 28 and ends at 7pm Monday, May 30.

Intro to Climbing Outside – novice with all equipment included (shoes, harness, belay device, helmet, rope, chalk)
This 9a-1p or 1:30-5:30p SUN, MAY 29 climbing clinic is perfect for individuals with little to no climbing experience. Vertical Voyages will provide all equipment necessary for climbing outside. They will set up ropes on a variety of routes for you and your friends/family to climb. Your instructor will also give you tips and climbing techniques to enhance your climbing experience. In addition, they will have a rappelling station set up for you to learn the basics of rappelling. Their rock climbing clinics are led by AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructors who have had extensive training and experience teaching outdoor climbing and have passed the AMGA Single Pitch certification exam.

Gym to Crag – you bring your own equipment and have some climbing experience and be lead certified
This 9a-1p SUN, MAY 29 climbing clinic is specifically designed for individuals looking to take skills they have learned in the gym out to the crag. In addition to learning advanced lead climbing skills, outdoor climbing technique tips, and how to retrieve your equipment, climbers will also learn what social and environmental factors to consider when climbing outside. Specifically, individuals will learn how to read a route outside, technique for climbing outside, and how to evaluate anchors and sport bolts.

PREREQUISITES: Participants interested in this course must know how to lead climb and lead belay in order to enroll.

Multi-pitch Skills – for those already lead climbing outdoors, looking to learn multi-pitch belaying etc.
This 1:30-5:30p SUN, MAY 29 Multi-Pitch Skills Clinic is perfect for the aspiring climber who wants to start tackling some larger rock climbing objectives. We will also practice skills such as anchor building, rappelling, top-managed belaying, self tethering, station management, rope management, and gear racking.

PREREQUISITES: Participants interested in this course must know how to lead climb and lead belay in order to enroll.
