  • Yin Yoga at Shanti Tower Grove

Yin Yoga at Shanti Tower Grove

    04/01/2024

Yin Yoga works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses. We will combine the body practice with some mindfulness exercises to slow the mind and bring about the parasympathetic healing state with a slow and steady approach. Holding the Yin Yoga poses in stillness as best we can, will allow the passive, long holds to strengthen and hydrate critical joint tissues in a way that most other practices cannot. Yin exercise targets the body’s connective tissues—including the ligaments, bones, cartilage, and tendons—as well as myofascia and three-dimensional web fascia, all major but often ignored components of flexibility, mobility, strength, and structure.

We will unwind tension in the body to bring long-lasting relief and health to the body’s critical “invisible half,” refreshing our minds to bring clarity and deeper understanding, and create spaciousness in the heart to let us live and love with greater ease and more joy.

    FLOW Heated

    04/02/2024

Build physical and mental strength as you flow through a dance-like series of yoga poses, drawing on the breath as your inner source of power in this energizing class.

    What to Expect

Set to heart-pumping music in a heated studio, this athletic class will shine a light on the reactivity of your mind. My sequencing builds throughout the 60 minutes to prepare your body for flowing in the finale flow. After a spinal warmup with an intentional Sun A and hip warmup with a Sun B designed to target the body parts we'll activate and lengthen in our Sun C, you will feel prepared for the series of flowing yoga sequenced specifically for you to explore poses on your own, moving at your personal pace. Your breath will guide you to a state of mental calm in the midst of this powerfully energetic experience.

    Why it Works

FLOW is designed to reveal and cultivate your own internal resources — the rhythm of your breath, the steadiness of your mind and the strength of your body — so you can face life’s challenges with confidence and poise.

The total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 will be visible from a narrow path of totality that runs through Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The path of totality will pass through 15 states in the United States, including southern Missouri!

The moon will appear relatively large and will cover 100% of the sun's disk. A partial eclipse will be visible across nearly all of North America and a sliver of western Europe.

A Total Solar Eclipse is truly spectacular; you will have the unique opportunity to stand in the shadow of the moon and witness the sun’s exquisite corona. Solar eclipses are alignments of the Sun, the Moon, and You.
We were fortunate to have the last total solar eclipse path of totality in southern MO in August, 2017. The next total solar after this April 8 one that can be seen from the contiguous United States won't take place until August 23, 2044.

April 8 is a Monday and the eclipse will peak in the southern MO sky at :00pm. Join friends for this rare opportunity to view a full solar eclipse right here a short drive from St. Louis in Blackwell, MO at this music, art & wellness retreat August 5-9, 2024.

The lineup of wellness classes, workshops, and music performances features many expert presenters, including yours truly sharing my wisdom on yoga, meditation, spirituality and more. So far I understand Thought Realm & Sat Sang are on board to perform throughout the festival!

I'll be offering tea ceremonies in Mystic Den at this festival and guiding an Earthing Yoga workshop.

    SURRENDER YIN

    04/06/2024

    Learn to Let Go

This slow, meditative yin-yoga practice is designed to mindfully stress your body’s connective tissues as you breathe into the ever-changing sensations that arise in long-held poses.

    What to Expect

You’ll be guided through a series of passive postures, mostly done on the floor. Poses are held for up to several minutes, allowing fascia and joints to gradually compress or release. This class is suitable for all experience levels; you’ll learn to utilize your breath and observe your natural tendencies when faced with discomfort.

    Why it Works

Physically, long-held yoga poses mobilize and lubricate the joints and can help make these tissues more flexible. Mentally, these poses challenge you to meet arising resistance with mindfulness and self-compassion, teaching you to find the middle ground between craving and aversion.
